APPS: Community

Info

Description

The Community module allows App administrators to easily create various types of applications based on groups and people, such as:

  • Tinder-type dating apps
  • Social networks
  • Community groups
  • Clubs
  • work groups
  • Sports
  • teams
  • Etc…

Characteristics:

  • USER PROFILE: Application users will be able to enter and publicly display information about themselves. This will include a photo, a short bio, and the features listed below, if enabled by the app administrator.
  • MESSAGING: member to member messaging. Members of the app will have the ability to delete message conversations.
  • PUSH NOTIFICATIONS: Receive push notifications when someone favorites your profile or sends them a message. Additionally, app members will have settings that allow them to select which notifications they would like to enable/disable.
  • GEOLOCATION: Members' ability to search for other members located within their area. Members of the app will be able to enable/disable their location settings.
  • PROFILE KEYWORDS – The app administrator will be able to add default keywords that app members can select to add to their profile settings. This will make it easier to match profiles when creating certain types of apps (e.g. dating). There will also be a switch to enable/disable the feature. Keywords will not be visible on the public profile page (only in profile settings).
  • CUSTOM PROFILE KEYWORDS – The app administrator will be able to enable/disable the ability for app members to add custom keywords to their profile settings. This will improve the keyword matching feature. As with profile keywords, custom profile keywords will not be visible on the public profile page (only in profile settings).
  • PROFILE ADDITIONS - The ability of the application administrator to enable/disable the following profile settings, respectively: age group, gender, height, weight, ethnicity.
  • I'M LOOKING: If enabled, this feature will display an "I'm looking for" section in the app member's profile settings. The options will allow the app user to select the age group, gender, height, weight and ethnicity they wish to be matched with. All options will also include an "All" option for each category. This feature will only be available if the "Profile Additions" feature is enabled.
  • FAVORITES: Ability for the application administrator to activate or deactivate favorites. This will allow members of the app to add another member's profile to their favorites list.
  • FIND MY MATCH: If enabled by the app administrator, a feature that allows the app member to click a button and receive profile results from other app members who are a relationship match with them. The module will use the following function to find compatible matches: "Profile Keywords", "Custom Profile Keywords", and "I'm looking for".
  • OTHERS LIKE ME: If enabled by the app administrator, a feature that allows the app member to click a button and receive profile results from other app members who are compatible with them in terms of interest. The module will use the following function to find compatible matches: "Profile Keywords" and "Custom Profile Keywords".
  • GROUPS – An option for the application administrator to enable or disable groups. If enabled, the application administrator has the ability to create and assign application members to a group. Additionally, the Group function will have two options:
    • Public Groups: App members can view the profile of app members who are not in their group, but cannot contact or interact with the profile.
    • Private Groups: App members can only see and interact with app members in their group.
  • SWIPE MODE: Swipe mode can be enabled/disabled by the app administrator. This will allow app members to view profiles by swiping, rather than in list view.
  • BLOCK MEMBERS – Ability for app members to block other app members from contacting them.

First Steps

Add the Community feature to your App and select it.

Next, the function settings section will be displayed.

You can enable/disable the module functionalities from this section.

Create multiple user profiles from within the app so that the match feature can display some results.

You can create some Groups and add users to the Group to better organize your users.

You can also create custom fields, if you need different fields than what is available.

Groups

The Groups feature allows the application administrator to categorize users in the Community module.

The application administrator has the ability to create and assign Application Members to a Group. Additionally, the Groups function will have two options:

Public Groups – App Members can view the Profile of App Members who are not in their Group but cannot contact or interact with the Profile.

Private Groups – App Members can only see and interact with App Members in their Group.

Profile

The profile tab can be accessed from the Editor side by the application administrator. It will list the user profiles created in the Community module; Administrator can search/edit users or block them from this page.

Custom Fields

You will have a fixed set of fields created by default in the Community module, most of them can be renamed/edited according to the needs of your application.

But sometimes you need a totally different set of fields or want to add one more field, then you can create custom fields from this section.

Custom fields will only work if you have the Custom Profile module installed/added in your app; If you do not have the module, it will display an error message indicating that you must include the Profile module.

Once you add the Profile module, you will see a page like the following.

This is the confirmation page before importing fields from Community to the Profile module.

Once you click on the create default fields button in the Profile module, it will import all the fields from the Community to the Profile module. And then you can add/edit fields in the Profile module and it will sync with the Community module. This way, you will be able to create fields in the Profile module that will be used in registration/search in the Community module.

After importing fields, you'll see some settings to change how the search functionality works. Custom fields allow you to define how fields will behave when matching a profile.

For example, you have created an age field, you want the system to find an exact match, a range or similar (similar match in some things).

This way, every time you add new fields for search criteria, you can define how they should behave.

This setting is available only for the Search Fields Section, fields in other sections will be used for data capture/display purposes, and will not be considered search operations.

You can add up to 10 fields in the search/profile match section, other sections can have any number of fields.

When you add new fields in the Profile module, you need to click save/sync on this page to display the newly added fields.
