The Groups feature allows the application administrator to categorize users in the Community module.
The application administrator has the ability to create and assign Application Members to a Group. Additionally, the Groups function will have two options:
Public Groups – App Members can view the Profile of App Members who are not in their Group but cannot contact or interact with the Profile.
Private Groups – App Members can only see and interact with App Members in their Group.
The profile tab can be accessed from the Editor side by the application administrator. It will list the user profiles created in the Community module; Administrator can search/edit users or block them from this page.
Custom Fields
You will have a fixed set of fields created by default in the Community module, most of them can be renamed/edited according to the needs of your application.
But sometimes you need a totally different set of fields or want to add one more field, then you can create custom fields from this section.
Custom fields will only work if you have the Custom Profile module installed/added in your app; If you do not have the module, it will display an error message indicating that you must include the Profile module.
Once you add the Profile module, you will see a page like the following.
This is the confirmation page before importing fields from Community to the Profile module.
Once you click on the create default fields button in the Profile module, it will import all the fields from the Community to the Profile module. And then you can add/edit fields in the Profile module and it will sync with the Community module. This way, you will be able to create fields in the Profile module that will be used in registration/search in the Community module.
After importing fields, you'll see some settings to change how the search functionality works. Custom fields allow you to define how fields will behave when matching a profile.
For example, you have created an age field, you want the system to find an exact match, a range or similar (similar match in some things).
This way, every time you add new fields for search criteria, you can define how they should behave.
This setting is available only for the Search Fields Section, fields in other sections will be used for data capture/display purposes, and will not be considered search operations.
You can add up to 10 fields in the search/profile match section, other sections can have any number of fields.
When you add new fields in the Profile module, you need to click save/sync on this page to display the newly added fields.
