OneSignal Setup

To set up the new Push Messaging system you will need to republish your App (if it is older than 1 June 2023), have a free One Signal account and a Firebase for Android account.

  1. Log in to your One Signal account and click on 'New App/Website'. Give it the same name as your app in Scoreapps.
  1. Select Android to start

  1. Now go to your Firebase dashboard and enter the console.
  1. Add a new project and name it the same name as your App

  1. In the next step, disable Google Analytics for now (you can enable it later if you need to).

  1. Once the project is created, on the next screen, click on the round Android icon in the middle of the screen.

  1. Then enter the Package Name of your App and the name of the App.
  1. Click on Register Application and then click Next several times until you reach the Go to Console option:

  1. When you complete these steps and return to the main Firebase console, click on the settings wheel at the top left and select Project Settings and then go to the Cloud Messaging tab.

  1. In the Cloud Messaging tab click on the 3 buttons next to Cloud Messaging API (legacy)

  1. On the new page that has opened, click Enable to activate this API.

  1. Go back to the Firebase window and refresh the screen. You will now see that you have access to the 'Server Key' and 'Sender ID'.

  1. Now that the App has been created and configured in Firebase, we can copy and paste that data ('Server key' and 'Sender ID') into One Signal.

  1. Click Save and Continue
  1. On the next screen click on Cordova as SDK option, and click Continue

  1. Finally... Click on 'Done'.

  1. Now you can go to Settings / Keys & IDs in One Signal to copy the keys (OneSignal App ID and Rest API Key) and paste them into Scoreapps in the Advanced Settings of your App.

Congratulations, you have now configured Push Messages for Android. In case you have published your App also on IOS (Appstore), we have to make one more setting with the P12 certificate.

Uploading the P12 Certificate in One Signal

  1. In case you have requested the publication for the Appstore, once the App has been compiled you will receive an email with the P12 certificate needed to send the Push Messages.
  1. Then go back to your One Signal account
  1. Go to Platforms and click on Add Apple IOS

  1. Select .p12 Certificate from the drop-down menu, upload the indicated file and click on Save and Continue.

  1. And just like you did with Android, select Cordova SDK and click Save and Continue.

Finally, click on Done and you're ready!
